As was mentioned above, you need to make sure that you have the space to facilitate a larger solar panel array.  If you do have the space for them, used solar panels give you the most bang for your buck where dollars per watt is concerned.  Modern technology has seen more wattage being generated from less space so make sure you have the room.

Unless you’re willing to do some repair work, you want to avoid purchasing panels with apparent damage.  The most common problems with using used solar panels result from the following types of damage:

  • burned-out bypass diodes
  • condensation on the inside of the glass
  • cracked glass covering
